About

I am Richard Galyon, originally from Woodstock, GA near the Atlanta area. I retired from the United States Army in 2017 after 22 years of service and have lived all over the world. My overseas assignments include living in Germany for four years, a total of three years in South Korea over two tours, and one year in Kuwait. While in the United States I was stationed twice at Fort Bragg, NC, back home near Atlanta while assigned as a recruiter, and my final assignment being in Washington, DC where I finally retired. In addition to my interest in information technology and cyber security, some of my hobbies include traveling, fishing, skiing/snowboarding, and playing video games.

My background is in telecommunications and information technology. I am currently working full time as a Cyber Intelligence Analyst, and I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Cyber and Data Security Technology. I hope, with obtaining my degree, to gain more insight and remain competitive in my current career field. Additionally, the information technology classes will also help me earn continuing education units (CEU's) to maintain my required technical certifications such as CompTIA Security+ce and EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH). I am currently hoping to gain more insight into programming languages and coding, as this is not something I have to deal with in my current role.
